Startups: Get full-featured Microsoft development tools at no cost

Are you a technology startup?

In addition to the provision of cost-effective engineering talent, we also can help you save money on a long list of Microsoft development and programming tools.

In June of 2009, Scio Consulting was selected to join the Microsoft BizSpark Program as a Network Partner. BizSpark is a global program that fosters the success of innovative startups committed to Microsoft's platform technologies. Network Partners are active members of the global software ecosystem who provide mentorship, guidance and resources to BizSpark Startups.

The BizSpark Program is designed to accelerate the success of early-stage startups by connecting them to Network Partners. Being a Microsoft Gold Partner and experienced .NET developer, Scio Consulting has been an early supporter of Microsoft efforts to bring the software-as-a-service model to the Web. Because we are passionate about our customers and concerned with stretching the value of your development budget, we joined the program as a Network Partner to help our startup customers get the benefits of the Microsoft BizSpark Program.

As a BizSpark Network Partner, Scio Consulting can help you get fast access to valuable technology-based benefits, at no cost to your organization

Your benefits

Once you join the BizSpark Program, you will get affordable access to current, full-featured Microsoft tools and technologies, plus production licensing for hosted solutions. The BizSpark Program provides startups with software, support and global visibility at a time when those things are most valuable and least affordable -- during their first three years – with no upfront costs and minimal requirements.

Among the development tools, platform technologies and production licenses you will get are:

• All the software included in the Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team System Team Suite (VSTS) with MSDN® Premium subscription

• Expression® Studio Version 2

• VSTS Team Foundation Server (standard edition) Production use rights to host a "software as a service" solution (developed during participation in the BizSpark Program, on any platform) over the Internet, with regard to the latest versions of Microsoft products, including:

• Microsoft Windows Server® (all editions up to and including Enterprise)

• Microsoft SQL Server® (all editions)

• Microsoft Office SharePoint® Portal Server

• Microsoft System Center

• Microsoft BizTalk® Server

• Microsoft Dynamics® CRM

In addition to the core program offerings, BizSpark startups will be eligible for other Microsoft offerings, such as Microsoft’s Azure™ Services Platform.

How it works

To be eligible for the Microsoft BizSpark Program, your company must be actively engaged in development of a software-based product or service that is a core piece of your business model, have been in business for less than three years and have less than USD $1M in revenue.

If your company is qualified for BizSpark, you may enroll in the program by obtaining sponsorship from a designated BizSpark Network partner – Scio Consulting.

SaaS Profitability – SaaS Company is as SaaS Customer Does
Profitability, one would think, should come quite naturally to a successful, growing SaaS company. But, SaaS startups have consistently struggled to reach profitability. Unprofitable SaaS companies have gone public and remained unprofitable for years after their IPOs, even as they grow revenues into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
