How can I keep up on my project?

We have meetings every day to learn what we’ve done the day before, also, we have a weekly meeting to project the work that must be done each week. If the client wants he can be present in every meeting to know how the project is going. We have learned that in order to generate above-average results, having a trusting, collaborative relationship with our customers is just as important as having deep technical knowledge.

How do you work with clients?

We provide full lifecycle engineering services, addressing the needs of all the stages of a software product: Product Definition, Architecture and Design, MVP Development, Application Development, Testing and Quality Assurance, Application Maintenance and Support, Infrastructure and Application Management. We approach these services from an integrated DevOps perspective, working in close collaboration with product managers and business decision makers to ensure alignment with strategic priorities at all times.

What technologies do you use for developing?

Our technology toolkit is composed of the most advanced and widely used languages and tools for front- and back-end development:

What Methodologies do you use?

Agile Methodologies, mainly: Scrum and Kanban.

How can I be confident about quality and reliability?

Any average developer can build a working application, however, it is a very different thing to build a well-engineered application. Good software engineering requires experience and deep technical knowledge to design applications that are reliable and can scale with your business.

Our approach requires that an experienced Software Architect is responsible for providing technical guidance in every project, so that we deliver a system that you and your users can rely on.

Do you do software testing, verification and QA services?

Yes, we do. We have made Test Automation one of the key components of our QA approach, which helps to expedite software products time to market by accelerating regression testing and supporting manual testing.

Do you do provide post-development maintenance?

Yes, we do. We count our highly available and reliable application maintenance and support services as one of the major contributors to our customer satisfaction and retention.

Where are you located?

We are headquartered in Austin, TX and our Development Centers are located in Morelia and Guadalajara, Mexico.

Why Mexico?

Our nearshore delivery model offers geographical and cultural proximity that enables seamless, accurate communication and provides advantages in managing fast moving projects, especially those projects that depend on short feedback cycles and eye-to-eye alignment between all participants.

Does the Scio Team speak English?

Yes, everyone in our team is fully bilingual; we only hire developers who can maintain a conversation in English.

Do you have international flights to/from Morelia and Guadalajara?

We are on U.S. Central time zone and a short flight away from major U.S. cities.

What kind of people does Scio look for?

We work very hard to find people who fit our culture, and have very good experience. Our candidates have to have very good, fluent English, both spoken and written. We are not a body shop that just offers on-demand staffing. We are a team of professionals that invest in the professional development of the group, which helps us maintain high levels of service delivery consistency and growth. We hire people with a long-term perspective, not just to fulfill immediate project needs. Because of this, we hire employees, not just contractors. We follow a stringent recruiting process to select and hire new team members.

What is an MVP?

MVP stands for Minimum Viable Product. It is a bare-bones version of the application whose purpose is to enable early and affordable testing of an idea with real users/customer. At Venture Traction, we work with you to take your idea and chisel it into an ideal MVP for you to release to the world and begin testing/tweaking.

Building an MVP to test before building a full product will save you money. Feedback at an early stage will almost always result in changing the direction of the product to meet the real demands of users. This is based on the principles written in “The Lean Startup”. See the Wikipedia article on “Minimum viable Product” here.

What methodologies do you use?

Agile Methodologies, mainly: Scrum and Kanban.

Is the MVP Method Suitable for All Technological Startups?

The MVP method will work for Startups that need to define their audience or validate a solution to a problem or need.  The MVP will work as a prototype to the defined needs of the project by getting early customers to purchase or sign up and confirm on initial assumptions, as well as getting prompt feedback for future functionality. So yes, the model is suitable to Technological Startups.

What if I already have an app software built?

That’s perfectly ok! We are hired regularly by small to medium sized companies who have previously built software systems and are now in need of upgrades or debugging. It happens, we are here to help you as well.

When should you turn to outsourcing your product development? You need to outsource the MVP Development when:
  • You don’t have experience managing an MVP development project.

  • You don’t have the technical background or an in-house technical team for developing the project and you have never built a technology product from scratch.

  • You don’t have the financial resources to support a whole team of in-house developers, designers and project managers.

How can you put a price to an MVP package without learning more about my application?

It’s simple. We have done this many, many times, so we understand what it takes to develop an early stage MVP. Remember, the purpose of your first MVP is not to become the full and final solution, but to enable you to validate your idea with prospective customers or users and begin to demonstrate traction, to discover flaws or gaps in your assumptions and improvements to your business model and solution.

So to keep things lean, we fix the budget and timeline of your MVP, and then work with you to prioritize the features that are absolutely critical to validate the most important assumptions of your idea and that can fit in the time-box. We have found that this approach helps us all keep on target.

Do you accept equity for your development services?

As a rule, we do not take equity in exchange for development services. We believe that until we know each other well and mutually believe that we are a good match for the long term, it is best to have a straight business relationship where you are our customer and we need to earn your business by providing exceptional value.

However, on a very selective basis, we have invested in some of the companies that we have worked with, both in cash as investors as well as with development work.
